Fire Route Marking That Passes Inspection
Fire route marking in Toronto is not optional. Properties with designated fire routes must keep emergency vehicle access clearly marked and clear of parked cars. When curbs fade to pink and lettering wears away, fire prevention notices follow. We fix it fast and make it last.
A fire route job covers safety red curb faces and tops, FIRE ROUTE stencils on the pavement, lane edges where needed and coordination of fire route signs. Paint runs $4-$8 per linear foot and lasts 12-24 months. Hot-applied thermoplastic runs $8-$18 per linear foot and lasts 3-5 years.
Fire Codes and By-Laws
Fire routes are designated through the Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07) and municipal by-laws, including Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 880 for fire routes. The designation, sign locations and route width come from your approved plans. We mark to match and document the result for your file and your fire inspection.
Paint or Thermoplastic for Fire Routes?
If your fire route fades every spring, thermoplastic usually costs less over five years. It is applied hot, fuses to asphalt and cures in minutes. Read more about thermoplastic line marking. Curbs are prepped and coated separately; for curb-only work see curb painting.
